Coffee Maker Replacement Parts For Everyone

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

In this increasingly green world focused on reusing and recycling, there is no reason not to learn a little basic home maintenance.  Finding replacement parts for your coffee maker used to be a dodgy game at best: you’d have to go with local merchants unless you wanted to go through the time and hassle of securing a catalog, and then, forget about getting a decent price.

Don’t want to buy a whole new appliance to obtain replacement parts for your coffee maker?  If you have the Internet, you have a world of options at your fingertips to buy new, quality replacement parts for any coffee maker, probably with a range of price options.  Websites like Google Products, overstock.com, and, of course, eBay make the process a piece of cake.

Know Your Info

To shop for replacement parts to your coffee maker like a pro, it’s clear that knowledge is power.  The more you know about what you’re looking for, the better you can compare what’s out there.  Do you need a plastic on/off switch, or a metal one?  What kind of current is it attached to?  This information is all available in the owners manual, which can tell you important details like part numbers.

Replace the Right Part

There are many moving parts in a coffee maker.  Replacement of parts is a great skill to develop for this reason.  One of the most popular coffee maker replacement parts is…can you guess it?  Yep, the glass carafe.  These are ideal for making hot, tasty coffee, but tend to suffer at the hands of the clumsy.  And, well, that category includes just about all of us some of the time!

How much does one of these run?  Well, like most things on the internet, there’s a wide range.  Here is where you would get specific with parts numbers; don’t be afraid to call up the manufacturer if you’ve lost the owner’s manual or if the information you need isn’t contained in there.  It’s your right as a consumer to know these things to purchase the right replacement parts for the coffee maker.

Compare and Contrast

You will probably find it most productive to look on a number of sites.  This can become mind boggling, but just remember to keep your priorities straight.  You don’t necessarily have to buy the finest glass carafe for your drip coffee maker, but you may decide that you want one made of sterner stuff.  And remember, the perfect replacement part for a friend’s coffee maker can be incredibly well-received as a gift.  Imagine the satisfaction in being able to use a formerly “broken” coffee maker again!

Coffee Maker Repair Shop May Not Be Easy To Find

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

There are fewer things in life more disquieting that waking up in the morning and finding out the coffee maker has quit working. Without that morning cup of go-juice it almost seems as though the entire day is shot and finding someplace that specializes in coffee maker repair can be an effort in futility. While there are some places that do offer to fix the machine, the need for a coffee maker repair has been reduce along with the price of the coffee makers, making them seem like a throw-away item.

When most people find their machine is on the fritz they simply head to the nearest discount store and buy a new one. In their head that may calculate that the cost of the coffee maker repair will be higher than buying a new machine every year or so. With many of the models on the market today built to last at least a year, a new one may be a better investment than paying for coffee maker repair.

However, when a person does pay several hundred dollars for their machine they expect it to last and when it does break, they are more willing to pay for the coffee maker repair. In reality, there are only a couple things that should go wrong with a coffee maker, making getting them fixed faster and it should be easier for those that repair them.

No User Serviceable Parts Inside

The warning labels on many coffee makers point out that there are no user serviceable parts inside and if the user, especially without their daily dose of caffeine does open up the machine they are likely going to be confronted with equipment they do not understand. Although there are only a couple of parts that usually go bad, unless they know what the parts look like, they should refer the errant machine to a qualified coffee maker repair shop.

In most instances, either the element that heats the water or the element that keeps the brewed coffee warm is what goes bad and with most coffee makers the cost of replacing either of those elements will be more than the price of a new machine. While the price of the part itself may be cheap, finding a coffee maker repair shop to replace the element at a low cost may not be possible. The more expensive the machine the more likely the owner will take it to a coffee maker repair facility rather then simply replace their coffee maker.

Coffee Maker Ratings and the Internet

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

The Internet has enabled us to give opinions on virtually everything.  If somebody’s thought of it, invented it, or sold it, they make themselves a target for critique and criticism.  Looking up coffee maker ratings  online can be a great way of helping your decision-making process along.  Even if you’re an iconoclast, a deep and independent thinker in a black turtleneck and Chuck Taylors, you cannot deny the wisdom of checking out ratings in coffee maker selection.

This is coffee, a part of many people’s life and livelihood.  People may get a little personal when giving their coffee maker rating.  A good thing to watch out for are people who write in ALL CAPS, the internet equivalent of yelling.  If you’re yelling, people aren’t likely to think you a reputable source.  Most sites filter out things like swearing, but you might want to take those reviews with a grain of salt too.

There are so many coffee makers out there, and so many websites for ratings.  Where do you find the best coffee maker ratings?  There are a number of ways you can go.  Merchant sites, opinion sights, and message boards are all great ways of looking up information on the coffee maker you have your eye on.

Remember, this machine could be first thing you interact with every day.  Can you operate it in the dark if you’re trying to leave the lights off for other people’s comfort?  Can you read the digital display easily?  All these are questions that should be answered in the product description, but are really born out in the user coffee maker ratings.  They’re a great resource.

Giving Your Own Reviews

Naturally, you’ll want to give your own reviews as well.  When you give your coffee maker ratings, be fair.  Think of it as a service to the community.  If you gave a product 3/5 stars because of a terrible customer service experience, make sure that fact makes it into your blurb.  Numerical or star-based ratings are also great because they attempt to establish consistency between reviewers.  Use them well.

Etiquette is also important when giving a coffee maker rating, or any other one.  You may disagree strongly with someone’s assessment of a product, but on the internet, free speech reigns, theoretically at least.  Now is not the time to call people names because they insulted your favorite Bunn coffee maker.  Coffee’s important, but it’s not worth losing your dignity.

Finding Coffee Maker Parts for Your Machine

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

What happens when you expensive coffee maker breaks down? Do you just throw it away or do you buy coffee maker parts and try and fix it. Coffee maker parts are now available for you to replace broken or faulty parts in your machine. You can now have your coffee machine work perfectly again.

There are so many reasons to do this, the first being economics. If the replacement coffee maker parts are cheaper than a new machine then why bother with buying a new machine that is probably more expensive than your original.

Exact Replicas

You can now buy coffee maker parts that are specific to your coffee machine in terms of brand. This is perfect if you need to replace just one little part and find that most other replacement parts don’t fit properly in terms of size. Often replacement parts that are not of the same brand will not work as well with your coffee maker.

This is not a problem you should have to face. There are now plenty of coffee maker parts available in all the popular brands of coffee makers. If you need a carafe or milk tank there should be no problem in finding the exact one that you need. Having the exact same part will allow you to use your machine like it’s good as new.

Easy to Assemble

What’s more repairing a coffee maker is not that hard. If all you need is to replace a certain part you should be able to do it yourself at home. Simply take out the broken or faulty part and replace it with the new one. Doing it yourself at home is even cheaper than asking someone else to do it for you. It is probably unnecessary to take it somewhere to get repaired.

There are also coffee maker parts that may not have come with your machine but are a valuable addition to have. Cleaners in particular can be useful coffee maker parts to have. There are even large sized thermal carafes that you can buy that are handy for long car trips with multiple coffee drinkers in the car.

Little accessories like these are fantastic if you are a coffee junkie or know someone who is. They make great presents for anyone who cannot live without that morning cup of coffee. To add to the convenience factor, you can have the parts shipped to your house.

Types Of Coffee Makers

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

Going shopping for a coffee maker is a bit like shopping for a car. You can’t just walk into a dealership and say, “I’ll take one car, please.”  There’s just too many types of varieties you need to choose from.  Do you need a big car?  Small car?  Four wheel drive?  Hybrid or regular gasoline?  Think about what you need in a coffee maker before you go buy one.

Percolators

This is one of the least expensive types of coffee makers you can buy for personal use.  It can use medium to finely ground coffee and needs some time in order to brew (about 20 minutes for six cups).  The flavor is predictably good, even with heavy use.  Some people claim that this is the longest lasting of the types of coffee makers.

One of the complaints about percolators is that sometimes the coffee grounds slip through into your cup.  A wide variety of sizes and shapes is produced and are easily available in places such as department stores, pharmacies and office supply shops.

Automatic Drip

This is another of the most available and least expensive coffee makers that you can buy.  This is what a lot of people think of when they hear the words “coffee maker”.  It works a little faster than a percolator and also holds up well over repeated use.  It can use nearly any texture of ground coffee except entire beans.  One of the complaints about automatic drip coffee makers is that they can’t get your coffee as hot as a percolator’s.  This also comes in wide varieties of sizes and shapes.

French Plunger

Known by many other names like cafetire, a French plunger works best for only one or two cups of coarsely ground coffee at a time.  It is best to use more coarsely ground coffee as the really fine stuff tends to get into your coffee, giving your drink a cloudy and muddy appearance.  Some coffee connoisseurs claim a French plunger gives a stronger brew.

If you don’t like coffee, French plungers work well for tea bags and making your own herbal tea from fresh herbs and fruit.  One of the drawbacks to French plungers is that they can be harder to find than either automatic drip coffee makers or percolators.  You may have to go to specialty cooking supply stores to get one.

Espresso Machine
This is the (literally) hot newcomer to the group, only having been made for home use for about twenty years.  Although you can get a decent cup, expect the bottom to be full of grounds.  Many people prefer to still get their espresso from coffee shops and cafes.

Cappucino Coffee Makers Compose a Great Coffee

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

In the US, a cappuccino has multiple forms.  When you order a “cappuccino”, what do you expect?  Most people in this country would say, “something like a latte, but with lots of foam.”  And they would be right.  That’s the cappuccino a la Americán, a drink served up in hefty portions.  More esoteric cappuccino coffee makers and drinkers would probably cringe at this!

“What’s All That Milk Doing Sitting on My Espresso Shot?”

In an American cappuccino, the espresso is poured into a cup, and the rest of a 12, 16, or 20 oz. Cup is filled with liquidy milk foam.  While snobbery is unattractive in any form, it seems particularly pointless to bicker about coffee.  There is an American method that is different from methods in Turkey, Mexico, or Viet Nam.  Even our drip coffee is different, and cappuccino coffee makers and consumers commonly accept this fact willingly.

What’s the difference?  Milk, mostly, with most cappuccino purists preferring a more traditional, and even, ratio of espresso to milk.  According to old world standards, the cappuccino should be about 5 to 6 oz, maximum, and should really be served in a small porcelain cup and saucer.  Supposedly the porcelain insulates the foam just right, although most cappuccino coffee makers probably won’t hold a paper cup against you.

The espresso should be brewed just right, ideally with a layer of golden-brown crema covering the top.  The milk should be a fine foam heated to 145°.  This can be a tricky feat, but the milk should sit on top of the espresso like shaving cream—not soap bubbles.  That’s the sign of a great cappuccino coffee maker and machine.

This is really where the two methods differ: in the true Italian style, you shave off a small portion of the finest foam and place it on top of the espresso shot.  In the Buick-esque method of the Americans, you block the pouring of the foam and fill about 1/3 of the cup with milk from the cappuccino coffee maker and throw all the foam on top of that, resulting in 12 oz. of deliciousness.

One thing that is essential for the good cappuccino coffee maker to know is to always clean the wand of the milk frother after use.  Everytime.  Besides being a health hazard, the milk can form solids on the sides of the wand, which then end up in the next drink.  Therefore, it is essential to monitor its cleanliness.  You can also do a periodic steam flush with pressurized hot water.

Convenience on the Trail with a Camping Coffee Maker

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

When you rough it in the wilds you don’t have to be without your daily fix of coffee. You can now bring along a camping coffee maker that works just as great as the one you plug in back home. It may mean a little extra weight in your pack but if you really can’t live without that morning cup of coffee then you won’t mind the extra weight.

It means a smooth cup of coffee that is rich tasting, no worry of coffee grounds stuck in your teeth with one of these babies. It’s just a little bit of luxury when you’re out in the wilds. It really is worth it if you really appreciate coffee.

How it Works

To use a camping coffee maker you will need a camping stove. You will probably have one if you are on a long trip that lasts more than a couple of days or a veteran camper. Simply fit your camping coffee maker over the stove and you will soon have a wonderful cup of coffee that tastes just like you would make it at home. It might even taste better when you are out in the great outdoors.

Nothing Fancy

A camping coffee maker should be simple to use and it should be as no frills as possible. This means that you should be able to use just about any old coffee filter out there. Anything that requires special filters should be tossed out as you might find yourself without the luxury of buying special filters when you are about to go camping.

A good camping coffee maker should also be able to handle wear and tear. Anything that seems flimsy is not a good idea. When you are out camping your pack is likely to get dropped or you might drop the whole coffee maker. Anything that can’t stand a knock or two is not suitable for repeated camping trips.

The average camping coffee maker will probably take a little longer to brew coffee than the machine you have at home but this is to be expected. An unfortunate drawback is that all camping coffee makers will not keep your coffee warm.

The solution to this is to pour your coffee into thermos as soon as it’s freshly brewed and then you will have hot coffee for the rest of the day. You won’t be sorry you lugged your camping coffee maker all the way into the wilds when you have the first great cup of coffee.

Bunn Coffee Maker Parts and Service

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

Bunn coffee makers have a large legacy to live up to.  The Illinoise-based company was the first to master the automatic drip both for household and domestic use, and the company still thrives today.  While Italian brands like De Longhi have rather cornered the market on large-scale espresso machines, Bunn remains a large player in people’s homes, which prominently feature Bunn.

The Bunn-O-Matic Company

Called the Bunn-O-Matic Coffee and Tea company, Bunn has been through a lot.  The advent of coffee shops and upstart coffee equipment producers has driven Bunn to produce a quality product.  They tend to be a little more expensive, but well worth it.  But what do you do when your slightly-expensive Bunn Coffee Maker breaks?  Parts.  You need parts.

Where to Get Them

You’ll probably have to used the same sources as retailer to obtain Bunn Coffee Maker parts.  Luckily, you don’t have to be a major retailer to gain access to Bunn Coffee maker parts.  That’s right, just use the internet.  With retail sites, rating sights, and corporate merchants, you have a full spread of Bunn Coffee Maker parts available.  Just try and look for that broken on/off switch.  I bet it’s on there.

Protect Yourself on the Internet

Keeping your information absolutely private on the Internet is virtually impossible these days.  You may feel inundated by the amount of people trying to sell you something or get your money.  You may spy a great deal, but it’s not worth risking your identity over, I can guarantee it.  Saving a couple of dollars, even for Bunn Coffee Maker parts, never worth a shady deal  If you have any doubts, you can always look for their rating on the
BBB.

Protect Yourself at Home

When installing new parts in your Bunn Coffee maker, always be sure to take basic precautions.  Always, always unplug the machine.  Bunns can use a very high voltage and it’s important not to endanger yourself even for a quality cup of Bunn coffee.  Before starting, pull out everything you will need, including the parts.  Another great tip is to grab something—a tea saucer, nearly anything–to catch any screws.

By following these simple steps, you can sure that your Bunn-O-Matic and you will have a very happy life together.

Oh, and while you’re struggling with that Bunn?  Their customer service number is (800) 532-2866.  Remember that if you’re nice to them, they gotta be nice to you?  Right?  Now, if only we could get all those people onto some Bunn-brewed coffee.

Common Features of an Espresso Machine With a Built in Coffee Maker

Published by Author under Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines

Some espresso machines are just that, plain espresso machines.  Others offer a built in coffee maker with the espresso machine.  If you are looking for a dual purpose espresso machine with a built in coffee maker, this article will help you by highlighting the features you need.

Features of Different Espresso Machines With a Built in Coffee Maker

There are three basic types of espresso machines that come with a built in coffee maker.  The types are pump, steam powered, and lever.

Pump espresso machines get their water pressure by an electrical powered pump.  Generally speaking, these espresso machines with a built in coffee maker are usually the most expensive models available.   Most commercial grade espresso machines are of the pump variety.

A steam powered espresso machine with a built in coffee maker works by heating up the water to create pressure.  These machines in general do not have the same pressure as the electric powered ones, but for casual home use they should be more than sufficient.  These machines offer most of the features of the powered ones at a significantly lower cost.  The other main drawback on these machines is that they have a tendency to break down with heavy use, although if they are only being used at home and not in a commercial capacity then they should be fine.

The third variety is the lever espresso machine.  These machines are generally far cheaper than either the steam or electric powered versions.  In addition they generally offer a superior espresso than steam ones as you have the ability to control the pressure by working the lever.  The big draw back with these machines is that they can be difficult to use and would never work in a high capacity environment.  If you are willing to put in a little bit of effort they do make an outstanding espresso.

All three varieties of espresso machines can offer a built in coffee make, which in general will be comparable in the quality of coffee it makes.  The options that you really want to make sure that you get right is for making espresso, so take some time to weigh these before purchasing.  If you main concern is just getting a good cup of coffee, you may want to look at getting separate coffee and espresso machines.  While this may be a little bit more expensive, in the end you will end up with the products you desire.  However, an espresso machine with a built in coffee maker can make a fine cup of coffee as well so weigh your options.
